"Buddy" Mitchell, started Buddy Mitchell Homes in 1995, and renamed it as SMART HOME BUILDERS in 1995. He did so, to reflect his approach to building homes that make the best use of modern concepts and contemporary materials. His early training in corporate life as a state certified journeyman instrument technician and electrician led him to contractual positions within E.I. DuPont where he worked as an Engineering Specialist |

with the Site Engineering Support Group. His work with DuPont taught him much about quality control and the use of computers in managing materials and the planning and scheduling of maintenance work. This experience and his search for better building methods led him to build an American Lung Association one story "Come Home to Health Home" in New Kent County VA. The concepts in this program make Quality of Life issues a top consideration on residential construction. |
